The Geology and Mineralogy Museum


Geological Museum of the Geology Institute of the Wroclaw University has existed since 1866. The museum collects and protects geological and paleontologic collections. It has both paleozoological and paleobothanical items.

The regional collections come mainly from Sudetes Mountains and foothills. The museum runs lessons on the subjects of Earth science for primary and secondary schools. Both scholars and students utilise the collection. A vast building in a style typical of the German Third Reich houses two interesting museum, both run by departments of the University of Wroclaw. The Geology Museum contains a wealth of different rocks and fossils specimens from different geological eras, while the Mineralogy Museum delights its visitors with its colourful displays of minerals collected from all over the world.
