The Polish city of Wroclaw has received the honor of hosting The World Games 2017. The 10th edition of this multisport event will take place between July 20th and July 30th 2017.

The two men organizing the Games are the President of the Wroclaw Organizing Committee – Mr. Marcin Przychodny and the Vice President – Mr. Adam Roczek.

IWGA President Jose Perurena said about the next host: “We are happy to present our sports in Wroclaw this summer, and we are sure that both sportsmen and women will be glad to come to this event.” Wroclaw is the perfect city to host an event like the World Games. It also has a record as a host of big sports events, and it can count on support from various institutions.

The Mayor Rafał Dutkiewicz, thinks that the organization of The World Games is a good occasion to present Wroclaw. According to what he said, this will be the biggest sporting event in Polish history after Euro 2012 Football Tournament.

Moreover, he counts on a large number of sports enthusiasts who will come to see this event. The bid was supported by Polish Sumo Wrestler Robert Paczkow, who was a World Champion and European Champion, but he is especially proud of his World Games bronze medal.

The past World Games editions took place in various places all around the world, including Duisburg (2005), Kaohsiung (2009) and Cali, Columbia (2013). The last one was actually the first time that the Games were hosted by a South-American country.

The World Games take place every four years, in the year following the Olympic Games.
It showcases more than 25 sports, including Dance Sports, Squash, Sumo, Karate and Tug of War. The athletes will compete for the gold medals in around 180 disciplines during the event.
